Recognizing this growing attraction, the Malaysian government launched the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) initiative, a long-term resident scheme enabling foreigners live, retire, or invest in Malaysia with more freedom and peace of mind. Not included on regular temporary visas, MM2H offers consistency, stability, and the chance to actually belong.
Originally launched in 1996 as a retirement-oriented “Silver Hair Program,” the project formalized in 2002 as MM2H and has since grown to embrace a larger community of inhabitants ranging from families and global citizens to seniors and businesspeople. It has so helped about 60,000 people and their loved ones migrate to Malaysia thus far.
In 2024 the project was refined into three distinct tiers: Silver, Gold, and Platinum, each with unique benefits and access restrictions.
